Chelsea and Bayern deservedly join the list of Champions League quarter-finalists

Last night concludes the round of 16 Champions League knockout stage, both Atletico Madrid and Lazio were wiped out in a 3-0 and 6-2 aggregate scoreline by Chelsea and Bayern Munich respectively.

Although, Lazio's task was an uphill to overturn the Germans 4-1 lead.

Diego Simeone's Atletico was hoping to turn around the result as it was just a 1-0 lead into the match but Tuchel's Chelsea proved to be on top of their game, showing compactness and solidity in knocking out the Spanish league leaders.

The scoreline changed in the 34th minute when N'golo Kante's clearance got to Havertz and he delightfully placed the ball in Werner's way, who drove into space before sighting Ziyech for a straightforward finish. 

Luiz Suarez's frustration was obvious throughout the match as Antonio Rudiger proved solid and gave no chance in defense.

Joao Felix got a chance to score an equalizer for Atleti when he receives a precise low pass inside the box, controls the ball, and releases it under the roof. Unfortunately for him, Edouard Mendy makes a great save to stop his effort.

Chelsea leads at halftime while the concluding goal came in the last minute of the match when the substitute Emerson Palmieri finishes up a superb counter-attack, bringing them to a delightful progression into the quarter-final.

Bayern and Chelsea progressed to join Real Madrid, Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain, Liverpool, Manchester City.
The quarter-final and semi-final draw will take place on Friday, March 19.
